If
you think you have a tough OLAP problem, we will be happy to advise
you.
We
have seen dozens of diverse applications and, in due course, intend
to summarize the most common techniques and recommendations in
a Casebook.
How
to proceed
Write
an Email to support (@codework.it)
with the problem statement or the analysis in the attachment.
Use a common format (like: rtf, pdf, txt, doc) and confine yourself
to one of these languages: English, French, Italian, German or Spanish.
The
key point is a clear statement of the problem and the objectives:
this is hard, but it must be done anyway, before you proceed to the
implementation (with or without 3-way TANGRAM).
A
brief description of your organization and business is useful to focus
on the problem.
Orders of magnitude of the population counts are also precious inputs
(something like: about 30000 customers, 30 products, 10 measures,
400 salesmen, ...)
In general, you are not expected to send sample operational data files.
What
to expect
-
An opinion on the applicability of OLAP techniques.
Your problem may be non-OLAP, after all.
A Relational DMBS or a spreadsheet may be a better starting point.
Data mining, data warehousing, data visualization, Executive Information
Systems are adjacent but distinct fields.
Or, an OLAP product other than 3-way TANGRAM may be called for.
- Some
hints of how 3-way TANGRAM primitives apply to your problem.
This is often the case if the tough part of the problem concerns
algorithms, computations, data structure.
- At
times we might want to develop a small prototype, to prove the feasibility
of a model of general interest.
In
other cases, we identify an existing application that looks similar.
While
it is very unlikely that you can adopt another company's solution,
it is useful to examine a real, functioning system and concentrate
on what is at variance with your case.
